Early Life and Career

Creighton Abrams was born on September 15, 1914, in Springfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1936 and served in the US Army for over 30 years.

Command in Vietnam

During the Vietnam War, Abrams commanded US military operations in Vietnam from 1968 to 1972. He was known for his tactical brilliance, personal bravery, and unwavering integrity.

Chief of Staff of the US Army

After the war, Abrams served as the Chief of Staff of the US Army from 1972 until his death on September 4, 1974. He implemented numerous reforms and modernizations during his tenure, and is widely regarded as one of the most successful military leaders in American history.
